The Senegal national football team is at the center of a dispute following the AFCON 2025 final. The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, spoke out to defend Morocco's position regarding this incident. This statement comes in response to the decision of the CAF Appeals Jury, which has sparked numerous reactions within the football community. The Senegalese Football Federation has decided to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to contest this decision. Lekjaa stated that Morocco has solid arguments to justify its position, supported by reports and video recordings. He specified that the withdrawal of the Senegal national football team during the final was documented by the referee and video footage. According to him, the decision confirming Morocco's victory is based on Article 84 of the CAF disciplinary regulations, which deals with the non-completion of a match. Lekjaa also mentioned that Morocco had agreed to continue the match after the Senegalese team's departure, explaining that refusing to resume play could have led to sanctions for his team. The case is now in the hands of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which will have to rule on the appeal filed by the Senegalese side.
