Senegal national football team coach Pape Thiaw has announced a 28-man squad for the 2026 World Cup. The team includes the returns of forwards Bamba Dieng, Assane Diao and Ilay Camara, who were absent from the last Africa Cup of Nations. The list is also marked by the first call-up of midfielder Bara Sapoko Ndiaye, a player of FC Bayern Munich. Pape Thiaw has chosen to maintain the main structure of his group. The coach has recalled several players who participated in the conquest of the second continental title won by the Lions on January 18. Senegal will approach the World Cup with a team combining experienced and new elements. The Senegalese team will be led by Sadio Mané, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy and Idrissa Gana Gueye. In attack, Nicolas Jackson, Ismaïla Sarr and Iliman Ndiaye are also featured. Senegal will play its fourth World Cup in 2026 and its third consecutive final phase after the 2018 and 2022 editions. The Lions had reached the quarterfinals in Qatar in 2022. The Senegalese team will play in Group I with the France national football team, the Norway national football team and the Iraq national football team. The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
