The Senegal national football team has been declared forfeit by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, won 1-0 by the Senegalese. The decision was made in accordance with articles 82 and 84 of the CAN regulations, which state that if a team refuses to play or leaves the field before the end of the regular match, it will be considered a loser and will be definitively eliminated from the current competition. Senegalese players had temporarily left the field during the final, in protest of an arbitration decision. Senegal won 1-0 at the end of a chaotic match, after a penalty was awarded to Morocco in the added time of the second half. The two teams then played extra time, where Senegal won thanks to a goal by Pape Gueye. CAF justified its decision by applying the rules of the CAN, which state that if a team refuses to play or leaves the field before the end of the regular match, it will be considered a loser and will be definitively eliminated from the current competition.
