Senegal international Ibrahim Mbaye has completed a move from Paris Saint-Germain to Aston Villa in a deal worth €55 million. The agreement in principle was reached this weekend, allowing the 18-year-old forward to undergo a medical.
The relationship between Aston Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was key to closing the deal. Mbaye, who had also attracted interest from Liverpool this summer, becomes Villa's ninth signing of the transfer window. The player joined PSG in 2018 from FC Versailles 78 and made his senior debut in August 2024 aged just 16, becoming the youngest player ever to start a match for the Parisian club.
Ibrahim Mbaye made 42 first-team appearances for PSG, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists. Last season, he featured in 31 games across all competitions, netting 3 times and setting up 2 goals. He started ten Ligue 1 matches and one Champions League game. His profile as a versatile forward who can run beyond defences, mainly from the right side, fitted Aston Villa's recruitment criteria, with the club having shown interest since January.

He was a key part of Senegal's Africa Cup of Nations triumph in 2025, appearing in six of their seven matches. At the ongoing 2026 World Cup, he started three of Senegal's four games. He scored in the tournament-opening defeat to France on June 16.
